Mariela Frushtuupulu is my stout, moustached widow alter-ego, who tells tales about her homeland Sardinia.
Flanked by a band of Vaudevillian misfits: Ichipidda, her perpetually pregnant daughter on the hunt for a husband, Salvatore, her mute son of comedy-tap and mime prowess and Sheepsy Rose Lee, the infamous half sheep/half woman Burlesque retiree - amongst other monstrosities.
Far from their rural Sardinian farm, the family migrate the globe entertaining unsuspecting audiences with an unorthodox list of ramshackle acts. Guaranteed to deliver an hour of laughter and tears. And maybe a bite of (boob) cheese.
Written and performed by Eva Alexander (Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part 1, stooge to Rufus Hound in Hounded, CBBC).
